What Am I Reading Next?

So I've finished Dream Kiss. It's been a while since I first started this series. I'm glad to reach the end. I'm excited to move on to some other great books I've found on Smashwords since first discovering the Sweet N' Sour Kisses series, including a mystery series by the same author. I'll be reading the first of the mystery series on a casual level. I have some other books I'm reading right now that I'm excited about finishing, so Cindy M. Hogan's Watched will be one that I pick up when I'm waiting at the dentist's office or something like that. (I don't know why people always pick the dentist's office. I know I won't be waiting there because I haven't been to one in over six years! I'm not advocating not going, I'm just saying I know I won't read this book at the dentist's office. Haha. Although I may read it at my husband's office while I'm waiting for him to get off work.)

Wow! That was a long detour.

Cindy's next book, that I'll be reading casually, is the first of a trilogy called The Watched Trilogy. Main character, Christy, is about to turn sixteen, but before she has the chance, she sees the murder of a senator's aide while on a school field trip. In order to keep her safe, she is put into the witness protection program. Of course there are a couple hot guys thrown into the mix. I'm pretty sure they're her age and not creepy older FBI agents or something. Although you never know with these young teen girls. They can fall in love with a forty-year-old as easily as with a sixteen-year-old. (No, I'm not speaking of experience! What?)

I've read the first sentence of this book, and so far I'm not impressed. Now, wait, before you think I'm being waaay too harsh (which I am), let me explain. I only mean I'm judging if the writing style is one that appeals to me or not. For me, I have to love the writing as well as the plot. The plot, I must say, sounds quite intriguing. But the writing style sounds like the Sweet N' Sour Kisses series (of which I was eager to conclude, if you remember). Maybe I just don't like teenagers. I'm not sure.

Watched is written in first person from Christy's point of view, of course. The market is over-populated by books in the first person, if you ask me. I mean, how awkward would it be to write, "He looked into my gleaming blue eyes then kissed me like the truly hot catch I was"??? I don't know, maybe some people find it extremely easy to write that. Maybe they write like that in their diary...ebery dhay! Ha!

Well, I'll let you know how the book turns out, or starts to turn out. I'm not committing to finishing this one if the teenage rambling gets to me.

I got this book for free by signing up for Cindy Hogan's VIP Readers Club. You can buy it for only $.99 on Smashwords by clicking on the "buy" button below. Or buy the entire trilogy for $6.99.

I just can't help myself...I really want to like the young adult fiction and culture. It has such a cool vibe! But the actually words written in most YA books to tell the stories of these cool teens are just not my jam. (Look at me, trying to sound cool myself! Did I pull it off?)

Thanks for stopping by! I'll see you again soon for more book recommendations and maybe more complaints.

A Stay at Sister Hotel | Visiting My Sister for the Weekend

Last weekend I had the chance to spend a few days with my sister. She lives an hour and a half away so I spent the night, and we had a proper sleepover. Downton Abbey and Mikes Hard Lemonade played a big part. Haha! We didn't get up to anything really treacherous since our idea of being bad is staying up till 2 am watching DA. I just thought I'd share with you some of the things we did. Sharon filmed a craft video of a floral centerpiece she made for her dining room table. I took a few shots of her while she was working. You can check out her YouTube channel here: Sharon Guardiola . She makes craft, painting and beauty videos. She also left me these tasty chocolates on my pillow and lent me a fluffy fur-lined robe like a legit five-star hotel. Lol. My sister has two fireplaces so they have lots of wood. This is the mantelpiece in her bedroom. I love this style. It really reflects her. (No pun. ツ ) I had a great time staying at the Siste...

Book Review: Rebound Kiss

Brooklyn has just been humiliated by Luke stealing her first kiss in the first episode then trying to ruin her in the second episode by spreading rumors about her. After being shunned by practically the whole school, Brooklyn wants to recover from the embarrassment. She meets Riley, a sweet boy at her cousin's birthday party. She begins to experience all the feelings she had for Luke, before he kissed her without permission. As Brooklyn dates Riley, something is not right. The connection she wants to feel with him is not there, yet Riley is the perfect sweet guy. Could Brooklyn be experiencing her first rebound? And if so, how can she face dumping Riley for doing nothing wrong? I enjoyed reading Rebound Kiss by Cindy M. Hogan. I don't know if I mentioned before but one of the things I enjoy most about these books is their length. Each book is only 75-100 pages long, the perfect length for a quick read. Each story also ends with a satisfying resolution while leaving you ...

Review for Dream Kiss: Final Book in Sweet N' Sour Kisses Series

I've finally reached Dream Kiss . I don't currently remember what it was about. (Lasting impression, huh...) Ok, let me check, and I'll be right back. ... ... ... Ok. Here's what it's about. Our main character, Brooklyn Hamlin, falls for yet another guy, a dreamy, romantic piece of human that she goes physically crazy for. But when she goes on a two-week family vacation with absolutely no contact with her new boyfriend, she comes back feeling quite differently about him. I think I've said this before, but I was excited when I first started this series. The author is a Mormon from what I can tell, so she writes about teens that actually have some rules governing their lives. It's not everyone sleeping with everyone all up in these pages. Brooklyn makes her own personal rule of not kissing a boy until she turns sixteen. All of that is what intrigued me about reading these books, especially since today's YA has limits on barely anything. However, a...
