I've finally reached Dream Kiss. I don't currently remember what it was about. (Lasting impression, huh...) Ok, let me check, and I'll be right back.
... ... ...
Ok. Here's what it's about. Our main character, Brooklyn Hamlin, falls for yet another guy, a dreamy, romantic piece of human that she goes physically crazy for. But when she goes on a two-week family vacation with absolutely no contact with her new boyfriend, she comes back feeling quite differently about him.
I think I've said this before, but I was excited when I first started this series. The author is a Mormon from what I can tell, so she writes about teens that actually have some rules governing their lives. It's not everyone sleeping with everyone all up in these pages. Brooklyn makes her own personal rule of not kissing a boy until she turns sixteen. All of that is what intrigued me about reading these books, especially since today's YA has limits on barely anything.
However, as I continued the series, the plots were less than riveting. That's understandable in the middle of the series, cause you're kinda waiting for the big finish anyway. I was sure Dream Kiss would deliver that. However, it felt much like another "middle book" to me. I know I can be way too picky, and young adult is not really my favorite, so, hey, this book is probably perfect for everyone else!
Even though it was not the most exciting series to me, I still admire all the work it took to create the series. So much work and passion goes into writing. People don't even know! So I don't want to down the author in any way. A finished book is still a win, no matter how crappy it is. (I'm not saying these are crappy! I'm just saying that reaching the end of any big project...ok, I think you know what I'm saying.) These books are definitely not crappy. I think anyone who enjoys a bubbly, quirky teen and her first kiss, and her intro into the dating world will enjoy this book...(no matter how picky I'm being).
So, read it, and let me know in the comments what YOU thought. Are you picky like me? Do you love YA, unlike me? Haha. What would you change about the books? What did you love about the books? Tell me. I want to know ev-er-y-thing.
